July 13 – 15, 2019 – Four men arrested and charged following traffic stop where Fentanyl, purple heroin and cash seized

Drug Arrests:

Four men, including a 56-year-old man from Norwood, Ontario, are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Peterborough where officers located and seized purple heroin, Fentanyl and a large quantity of cash.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on July 13, 2019 an officer observed a motor vehicle travelling west on Wolfe Street without its rear tail lights illuminated. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle in the area of Sherbrooke Street and Park Place. Located inside the vehicle were four males. While speaking with the male driver of the vehicle the driver provided officers with a false identity and was arrested and charged with identity fraud.

During the investigation the K9 Unit conducted a search of the vehicle and as a result a quantity of purple heroin, Fentanyl, drug packaging and a large quantity of Canadian currency were located and seized.
As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested and charged:

Uriah Udesci-Needham, 19, of Leiterman Drive, Milton, Ontario, is charged with the following:

  • Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (Identity fraud)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on July 14, 2019, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on August 1, 2019.

John William Foote, 56, of Asphodel 8th Line, Norwood, Ontario, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on July 14, 2019, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (July 15).

Kevin Lewis, 22, of Dorny Court, Toronto, Ontario, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on July 14, 2019, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on August 1, 2019.

Shemar Tatham, 20, of Hornsell Circle, Ajax, Ontario, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on July 14, 2019, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on August 1, 2019.

Assault causing bodily harm Arrest:

A 32-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm following a Saturday morning incident.

On July 13, 2019 at approximately 9:35 a.m. the victim was walking in the area of Brock Street and Water Streets when an unknown and agitated male approached him and a brief conversation took place. The victim attempted to walk away but the unknown male continued to approach and shout at the victim at which time a physical altercation occurred. During the altercation the male victim sustained an injury.

Police were called to the area of Victoria Park near the intersection of Brock and Water Streets for a disturbance between two males.

As a result of the investigation Terry Pheap Thang, 32, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on July 14, 2019, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (July 15).

Sexual assault Arrest:

A 69-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with sexual assault following an investigation.

On the morning of July 14, 2019 the accused and female victim were at a Peterborough address. While at the address the victim was sexually assaulted. The incident was reported to police and officers investigated.  The accused and victim know each other.

As a result of the investigation Gerald Henry Corbin, 69, of Lansdowne Street East, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Sexual assault
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (July 15).

Warrant/Drug Arrest:

A 38-year-old Peterborough man arrested on a warrant is facing additional charges including possession of Fentanyl.

On July 13, 2019 the accused was located in the area of King and Bethune Streets and arrested on warrants including fail to attend court.

As a result of the investigation Phillip Robert Simpson, 38, of Cedar Bank Road, Peterborough, was arrested on the outstanding warrants.

During the booking process at the police station the accused was found to be in possession of a quantity of blue/purple heroin, methamphetamine and Fentanyl.

The accused was additional charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Fentanyl)

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on July 14, 2019, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (July 15).

Dangerous operation/Race motor vehicle Arrest:

A 17-year-old Peterborough teen is facing charges including stunt driving and dangerous driving following a Friday night incident in the area of Reid and McDonnel Streets.

At approximately 11:42 p.m. on Friday July 12, 2019 an officer on patrol observed a vehicle in the area of Reid and McDonnel Streets travelling in excess of 120km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

The officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Charlotte and Rubidge Streets where the driver, a 17-year-old male, was arrested and charged with stunt driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. During the investigation the driver was found to be in possession of a quantity of psilocybin (magic mushrooms). The driver was further charged with possession of a schedule III substance.

The accused was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 12, 2019.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Impaired by drug Arrest:

A call from a concerned citizen has led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Peterborough man for driving while impaired by drugs.

On July 14, 2019 at approximately 2:35 a.m. a concerned citizen called police regarding a potential impaired driver in the area of Lansdowne Street and Monaghan Road.

Officers located the suspect vehicle being driven erratically and conducted a traffic stop. Through the investigation it was determined that the driver was impaired by a drug (narcotic).

As a result of the investigation Daniel Terrence Mahabir, 30, of Chamberlain Street, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired (drugs).

The accused was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 14, 2019.

Mischief Arrest:

A 34-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with mischief after damage was caused to a cell at the police station.

On July 14, 2019 the accused was arrested under the Liquor Licence Act for public intoxication. While in custody at the police station the accused caused damaged to a cell.

As a result of the investigation Ryan Thomas Foley, 34, of Kent Street, Peterborough, was charged with mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 13, 2019.

Domestic assault Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 29-year-old Peterborough man with domestic assault following a Thursday morning incident.

On July 12, 2019 the accused and female victim became involved in an argument while at a Peterborough residence. It was reported to police that during the incident the accused assaulted the victim. Officers attended and as a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on July 12, 2019.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Domestic assault Arrest:

A 52-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with domestic assault following an investigation.

On July 14, 2019 the accused and female victim were at a Peterborough residence where they became involved in a verbal dispute during which time the accused assaulted the victim. The incident was reported to police and officers investigated.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 31, 2019.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
