Impaired/Over 80mgs Arrest:
A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including impaired driving following an incident in a local parking lot.
On July 5, 2019 at approximately 8:40 p.m. officers were dispatched to a Towerhill Road parking lot after receiving a call regarding an unwanted and intoxicated male who had been asked to leave a restaurant located in the lot. Further information was provided to officers that prior to entering the restaurant the male was observed driving a motor vehicle in the lot and had struck a wooden gate at the front of the establishment.
A subsequent breath sample revealed the male had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.
As a result of the investigation Jonathan Robert Hynes, 33, of Kingsdale Road, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
The accused was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 7, 2019.
Possession of stolen property Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 34-year-old Peterborough man after stolen meat products were sold in a Lakefield parking lot.
Between 6 p.m. on July 7, 2019 and 7 a.m. on July 8, 2019 a break and enter took place at a shed and at a trailer located outside a Lakefield store where a large quantity of meat was stolen.
On July 8, 2019 at approximately 10:30 p.m. police received information that a suspicious male was attempting to sell meat products in a Lakefield parking lot. Through the investigation it was determined that the meat products had been stolen during the break and enter.
As a result of the investigation Dustin Bradley Barnett, 34, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (July 9).
