Aug. 31 – Sept. 3, 2019 – Peterborough man charged with assault causing bodily harm following June incident

Assault causing bodily harm Arrest:

A 60-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm following an incident in late June.

On June 30, 2019 at approximately 1 a.m. the accused and male victim were at a social gathering at a Peterborough residence. During the gathering the accused and male victim became involved in a verbal dispute and the victim was assaulted, requiring hospitalization.

As a result of the investigation on August 31, 2019 officers attended a Peterborough residence where the accused was arrested and charged.

Douglas Gordon Eales, 60, of Walker Avenue, is charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 24, 2019.

Assault/Assault peace officer Arrest:

A 19-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges including assault and assault peace officer following a weekend incident at a Hunter Street West bar.

On August 31, 2019 at approximately 1:20 a.m. the accused was at a Hunter Street West establishment where she was asked to leave the premises by the victim, an employee at the bar. It was reported that the accused then assaulted the victim. Police were called and when officers attended the accused fled the area on foot.

Officers located the accused a short time later in the area of Simcoe Street. The accused was arrested and charged and transported to the police station. While at the station the accused assaulted an officer.

Tonya Rose Harden, 19, of Hunter Street East, is charged with the following:

  • Assault
  • Assault peace officer
  • Fail to comply with the conditions of an undertaking
  • Breach of recognizance

The accused was held in custody and appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on August 31, 2019, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on September 16, 2019.

Flight from peace officer Arrest:

A 37-year-old man is facing several charges including flight from peace officer and driving while suspended following a Sunday night incident.

On September 1, 2019 at approximately 8:15 p.m. an officer saw a vehicle travelling with an expired licence plate. When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop the vehicle failed to stop at the intersection of London and Water Street and continued driving until finally coming to a stop in a Hunter Street East parking lot where a vehicle stop was conducted.

As a result of the investigation Michael Gordon Waterman, 37, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Breach of probation
  • Drive motor vehicle with no validation on plate (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to stop when signalled or requested to do so by a police officer (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Disobey stop sign – fail to stop (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 26, 2019.

Impaired/Over 80mg Arrest:

A 35-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges including impaired driving following a Saturday night incident.

On August 31, 2019 at approximately 10:25 p.m. police were contacted regarding a vehicle that struck a tree on the front lawn of a Greenlawn Avenue home and then fled the scene.

Through the investigation the suspect vehicle was located parked in the area of Sunset Boulevard and the female driver was located inside a residence. While speaking with the driver officers noted a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath.

A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in her system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Jessica Eleanor DeCarlo, 35, of Sunset Boulevard, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
  • Fail to report damage to property on highway (Highway Traffic Act charge)

The accused was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 24, 2019.
