Thursday September 5, 2019 – Police asking further victims to come forward in ongoing graffiti investigation

The Peterborough Police Service is asking further victims to come forward in an ongoing investigation after graffiti was located on more than 25 locations throughout the City.

On August 30, 2019 at approximately 11:55 p.m. police received a call for service regarding two males spray painting the outside of a George Street North grocery store. Shortly after midnight on August 31, 2019 officers located the two suspects in the area of George and Simcoe Streets.

As a result of the investigation Matthew Pellat, 18, of Pearl Avenue, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.  The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 11, 2019.

A 17-year-old male youth was also arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and released on a youth diversion. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

This continues to be an ongoing investigation. The character that was spray painted onto the building by the males is a distinct design that has since been found on more than 25 other locations throughout the City.
