Calls for Service:

Domestic Assault Arrest:

The victim and the accused have been involved in a relationship for 1 year. On October 8, 2019 at 9:00 pm the parties became involved in a verbal argument inside an Otonabee Drive residence in the City of Peterborough. The verbal argument became physical and the accused assaulted the victim as well as another person inside the home. Police attended the residence and completed an investigation that resulted in the accused being arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Assault x 2

The accused was held in custody to attend court on October 9, 2019.

To protect the identity of the victims the name of the accused is not being released.

Weapons Arrest:

On October 7, 2019 Peterborough Fire Services initiated an investigation at a Crescent Street address in the City of Peterborough as a result of a structure fire. During the investigation a firearm and ammunition were located inside the residence.

Peterborough Fire notified Police who completed an investigation.

As a result of the investigation the occupant of the residence, 76 year old male,  James Grant Brewer was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

Brewer was released from custody and will appear in court on October 29, 2019.

Family Week:

 In appreciation of Family Week the Peterborough Police Service is encouraging families to enjoy an e-free day on Wednesday October 9th.

Cram-A-Cruiser 2019:

In support of Kawartha Foodshare, this Thanksgiving weekend initiative takes place at participating Sobey’s and Foodland locations in our area.

You can drop by at a participating location, drop off a donation, purchase a pre-packed bag of non-perishable food items or make a monetary donation.

Items most needed during this year’s food drive are:

Tuna, fish and meats

Canned vegetables

Pasta sauce

Pasta

Pork and beans

Mac and cheese

Soup/stew

Canned pasta

The Kawartha Food Share currently assists more than 8,100 men women and children every month through its 36 member agencies. This includes their four meal programs, four City food banks, six housing projects, seven county food banks, and more than 20 food cupboards across the City & County of Peterborough. Last year their warehouse distributed more than 5 million dollars worth of food and emergency care needs.

During the 2018 Cram-A-Cruiser, approximately 17,000lbs of food was donated through this event.
