Thursday November 7, 2019 – Peterborough teen charged with pointing firearm

Pointing firearm arrest:

A 16-year-old Peterborough teen has been arrested and charged with pointing a firearm following a Wednesday morning incident.

While at a Peterborough residence on November 6, 2019 a verbal dispute took place between the male victim and another adult male. During the dispute the accused, a 16-year-old male, attempted to intervene.  It was reported that the accused brandished a pellet gun and proceeded to chase the victim along a footpath in the area of Gilchrist and McDonnel Streets. Passerby called 9-1-1 to report the incident to police and officers were dispatched to the area.

Shortly after officers located the accused at a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, he was placed under arrest and charged with pointing a firearm.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on November 6, 2019.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the victim for fail to comply with a recognizance X4 and fail to comply with a probation order X3. As this individual charged is also a victim his name will not be released.

Assault causing bodily harm arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 33-year-old Peterborough man with assault causing bodily harm following a domestic incident.

On the night of November 5, 2019 the accused and the victim, his former partner, became involved in a verbal argument while at their Peterborough residence. It was reported that during the argument the accused assaulted the victim including striking her in the face several times. Police were notified and investigated.

Shortly after midnight on November 6, 2019 police attended a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on November 6, 2019.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Use of credit card arrest:

A 33-year-old Peterborough woman has been arrested and charged after a credit card stolen from a vehicle was fraudulently used at local stores and restaurants.

On the night of October 30, 2019 the victim had his wallet stolen from his vehicle parked at a Romaine Street residence. Between October 30, 2019 and October 31, 2019 several fraudulent transactions were made at local convenience stores and food outlets using a credit card from the stolen wallet.

Through the investigation the accused was identified. On November 5, 2019 officers attended a Peterborough residence where the accused was located and placed under arrest.

Ashley Jennifer Payne, 33, of no fixed address, is charged with the following:

  • Use of credit card
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on November 5, 2019.

Domestic assault arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged an 18-year-old teen with domestic assault following an investigation.

At approximately 8:45 a.m. on November 6, 2019 police were dispatched to a Peterborough residence for a domestic assault. It was reported that while the accused and male victim were involved in a verbal dispute the accused assaulted the victim.

The accused was arrested at the residence and charged with domestic assault.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on November 6, 2019.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Assault arrest:

A 24-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with assault following an incident outside a George Street North business.

On the morning of October 30, 2019 the male victim was leaving a George Street North business when the accused confronted the victim and assaulted him. The accused and victim know each other. The accused then left the area. Police were contacted and attended.

On October 31, 2019 a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused, 24-year-old Michael James MacKenzie, of Dundas Street, Toronto, for the charges of assault and fail to comply with a probation.

On November 5, 2019 the accused was located at a Peterborough address where he was arrested on the warrant. The accused appeared in court on November 5, 2019.
