Friday December 20, 2019 – North York, Ontario man charged following traffic stop

Obstruct peace officer Arrest:

A 23-year-old North York, Ontario man is facing charges including obstructing police following a Thursday night traffic stop in Cavan Monaghan.

On December 19, 2019 at approximately 11:54 p.m. Peterborough Police received information regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of the Highway 115 and County Road 10 in the Township of Cavan Monaghan.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. When conducting the traffic stop officers located a male passenger in the vehicle who was arrested for breaching his conditions to remain in his residence between certain hours and keeping the peace and being of good behaviour. When speaking with officers the accused provided police with a false name.

As a result of the investigation Raphael Ayowole Salami, 23, of Parkway Forest Drive, North York, Ontario, is charged with the following:

  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Fail to comply with a recognizance
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Dec. 20).
