Friday December 6, 2019 – Arrest made in gas station robbery

Robbery with theft arrest:

A 46-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged following a robbery at a local gas station.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on December 2, 2019 an unknown male wearing all black entered a Lansdowne Street West gas station, threatened the store clerk demanded the clerk give him free gas. The unknown male then filled up a jug of gas and was last seen fleeing west on foot.

Through the investigation the suspect was identified. On December 3, 2019 officers located the suspect driving in the area of Aylmer and McDonnel Streets.

As a result of the investigation Todd David MacKenzie, 46, of Waddell Avenue, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with robbery with theft.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on December 3, 2019.

Break and enter: Chemong Road convenience store

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a break-in at a Chemong Road convenience store.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on December 6, 2019 officers and the K9 Unit were dispatched to an alarm call at a Chemong Road convenience store after an unknown male smashed a glass door at the business. At this time it is unknown what property was stolen.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Caucasian
  • 5’10” tall
  • Wearing a dark black or blue puffy coat with hood and black shoes

Carrying concealed weapon arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 23-year-old man with carrying a concealed weapon following a Wednesday night incident.

On December 4, 2019 at approximately 7:45 p.m. officers and the K9 Unit were in the area of Brock and Chambers Street for another matter when a male was seen in the middle of the street brandishing a knife in an aggressive manner. Several passerby were in the area at the time of the incident. The male was ordered by officers to drop the knife at which point the male refused. Through the use of a Police Service Dog the male complied and was subsequently arrested by a member of the K9 Unit.

As a result of the investigation Dillon Dwayne Cowen, 23, of Brock Street, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on December 5, 2019.
