Sexual assault/sexual interference arrest:

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including sexual assault and sexual interference following an investigation.

On November 30, 2019 information was provided to police that during October and November of 2019 the accused had been involved in an inappropriate and sexual relationship with the female victim.

On November 30, 2019 officers attended a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, the accused placed under arrest.

David John Dowden, 28, of Aylmer Street North, is charged with the following:

  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
  • Sexual interference
  • Fail to comply with prohibition regarding children

The accused was held in custody and appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on December 1, 2019.

Impaired arrest:

A call from a concerned citizen has led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Ennismore, Ontario man for impaired driving by drugs.

On November 30, 2019 at approximately 1:15 p.m. police received a call from the complainant reporting a vehicle driving east from Reid Street on the wrong side of the road with the male driver appearing to fall asleep at the wheel.

Police, fire and paramedics attended. Through the investigation it was determined the male driver was impaired by a drug.

As a result of the investigation Mitchell Curtis Lock, 25, of Tara Road, Ennismore, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired –alcohol and drugs.

The accused was served an automatic drivers licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 18, 2019.

Assault with a weapon/assault peace officer arrest:

A 22-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges including assaulting a police officer and assault with a weapon following a Sunday night incident.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on December 1, 2019 officers were dispatched to a Peterborough residence for a disturbance and unwanted male. It was reported that while at the residence the accused caused damage to the residence and assaulted the victim by striking the victim with a pair of scissors. The accused then left the home. The accused and the male victim know each other.

A short time later officers located the accused at a Peterborough residence. While attempting to place the accused under arrest the accused resisted and assaulted a police officer.

As a result of the investigation William Mackenzie Thomas, 22, of Lansdowne Street West, is charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault peace officer
  • Assault with intent to resist arrest
  • Mischief under $5,000

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today (Dec. 2).

Carrying concealed weapon arrest:

A 29-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including carrying concealed weapon following a weekend incident.

At approximately 9 a.m. on December 1, 2019 officers were in the area of Brookdale Plaza on Chemong Roade investigating another matter when they located the accused, wanted on a warrant from another police service for failing to attend court. The accused was placed under arrest on the warrant. During the search incident to arrest the accused was found to be in possession of several knives. The accused is currently on conditions to not possess any weapons.

As a result of the investigation Christopher Lee Brock, 29, of Murray Street, was arrested and charged with carrying concealed weapon and fail to comply with a recognizance.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today (Dec. 2).

Assault peace officer arrest:

Three teens have been arrested and charged following a weekend incident at a Peterborough home for youth.

On November 29, 2019 at approximately 4:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to a local youth home for a disturbance between staff members and youth.

During the incident two staff members were assaulted, a door and table at the home were broken and a police officer was assaulted.

As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested and charged:

16-year-old Peterborough teen is charged with the following:

  • Assault peace officer
  • Mischief under $5,000

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 23, 2019.

13-year-old teen, of no fixed address, is charged with the following:

  • Assault X 2

The youth was held in custody and appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on November 30, 2019.

 15-year-old Peterborough teen is charged with the following:

  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Breach of recognizance

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 23, 2019.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
