Theft Arrest:

A 26-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged following a theft from a George Street North store that led to a foot chase through the downtown.

At approximately 1 p.m. on January 27, 2020 police were dispatched to a George Street North store for a male who had stolen merchandise then fled the store on foot, running west on Hunter Street near Park Street. A short time later an officer located the male walking south on Park Street. When the officer attempted to speak with the man he started running again through a number of backyards and over numerous fences.

The officer continued to follow the male who was located a short time later hiding in the rafters of a storage room attached to a Homewood Avenue residence.

As a result of the investigation Jordan Allan Edgerton, 26, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5,000
  • Unlawfully in Dwelling House

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 18, 2020.

Impaired/Over 80mgs Arrest:

A call from a concerned citizen has led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Peterborough man for charges including impaired driving.

On January 25, 2020 at approximately 5 a.m. police received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle stopped in the middle of the street on Woodglade Boulevard with a driver slouched over in the driver’s seat.

When officers arrived they located a male in the driver’s seat that was unresponsive. Officers were able to wake the driver and at that time noticed an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath. A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operation a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Ruben John Mendoza, 25, of Springwood Drive, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

The accused was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 19, 2020.

Impaired/Over 80mgs Arrest:

A 28-year-old Omemee, Ontario man is facing charges including impaired driving following a single vehicle collision into a hydro pole on Aylmer Street.

On January 25, 2020 at approximately 10:30 p.m. police received a 9-1-1 call from a concerned citizen regarding a single vehicle collision in the area of Aylmer Street North.

When officers arrived they located the vehicle that had crashed into a hydro pole on the east bank of Aylmer Street and a male standing beside the vehicle. While speaking with the male officers noted the smell of alcohol coming from the male’s breath. Through the investigation the male was determined to be the driver of the vehicle. A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Scott Smith, 28, of Charlore Park Drive, Omemee, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

The accused was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 20, 2020.

Assault Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 28-year-old man following an incident at a George Street North mall.

On January 24, 2020 at approximately 11 a.m. a security guard at a mall in the area of George and Simcoe Streets located a male on the property that has previously been trespassed from the property. When the security guard attempted to place the male under arrest for trespass the male assaulted and threatened the security guard.

Police were called and attended. During the investigation the male was found to be intoxicated by alcohol. While escorting the male out of the mall the male continued to yell at the security guard and patrons.

As a result of the investigation Allen James Hikoaluk, 37, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Causing a disturbance
  • Fail to comply with a probation order
  • Public intoxication – Liquor Licence Act

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on January 24, 2020.

Assault Arrest:

A 19-year-old Peterborough man has been charged after a staff member at a George Street North nightclub was assaulted.

On January 26, 2020 at approximately 12:45 a.m. staff at a George Street North nightclub were attempting to escort an intoxicated male off the premises. Once outside the establishment the male was advised to leave the area but refused and proceeded to spit in the face of a staff member.

Police were contacted and officers arrived on scene where, as a result of the investigation, the male was placed under arrest.

Tyrae Shaw, 19, of O’Carroll Avenue, Peterborough, is charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 20, 2020.

Assault Arrest:

A 35-year-old Peterborough woman has been arrested and charged following an assault on a staff member at the local hospital.

On the morning of January 22, 2020 the accused was at the local hospital and during that time it was reported that the accused assaulted a staff member.

As a result of the investigation Kristina Darrelle Saunders, 35, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 13, 2020.

Domestic assault/mischief Arrest:

A 29-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with domestic assault and mischief following a weekend incident.

On January 25, 2020 at approximately 9 p.m. the female victim was in a parked vehicle when she was confronted by the accused who spat in her face several times through an open window and once the window was closed, smashed the window causing it to break. The victim was able to leave the area in the vehicle.

On the morning of January 26, 2020 the accused then attended the victim’s residence where items inside the residence were damaged. The incidents were reported to police and officers attended the residence to investigate.

As a result of the investigation the accused was located at the residence and charged with the following:

  • Domestic assault
  • Mischief under $5,000

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on January 26, 2020.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Domestic assault/mischief Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 32-year-old Peterborough man with domestic assault and uttering threats following an investigation.

On the morning of January 23, 2020 the accused and female victim were at a Peterborough residence where they became involved in a verbal argument during which time the victim was assaulted. Later that same morning the accused sent the victim several text messages that were threatening in nature. The incidents were reported to police on January 25, 2020.

On January 25, 2020 officers located the accused at a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Domestic assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on January 26, 2020.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
