Monday January 13, 2020 – Toronto man charged with human trafficking following investigation

Human Trafficking Arrest:

A 23-year-old Toronto, Ontario man has been arrested and charged with human trafficking following an investigation.

On January 10, 2020 the Peterborough Police Services Investigative Services Division began a human trafficking investigation involving a female victim. Through the investigation it was revealed that the victim was being trafficked.

On January 10, 2020 at approximately 3 p.m. officers attended the area of George Street North where the accused was located and placed under arrest. During the arrest the accused was found to be in possession of a large quantity of cash and was concealing a baton on his person.

As a result of the investigation Alexander Dexter Nelson, 23, of Summerside Court, Toronto, is charged with the following:

  • Traffick in persons
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Material benefits resulting from trafficking in persons

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on January 11, 2020, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court today (Jan. 13).
