Forcible confinement/assault peace officer Arrest:

A 43-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with forcible confinement and assault peace officer after paramedics were prevented from leaving a residence while attempting to provide assistance.

On January 12, 2020 at approximately 12:30 a.m. police were dispatched to a Peterborough residence to assist Peterborough Paramedics. It was reported that when paramedics attended the residence to provide assistance to a male inside the apartment the male became aggressive and threatened the paramedics. When the paramedics attempted to leave the apartment the male prevented them from leaving the residence twice including blocking the exit. The workers were eventually able to leave the apartment and police were called.

Officers attempted to place the male under arrest at which point an officer was assaulted.

  • Assault a peace officer
  • Forcible confinement

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 4, 2020.
