Tuesday January 14, 2020 – Peterborough man facing charges including voyeurism and criminal harassment following two incidents

Criminal harassment/voyeurism Arrest:

A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including break and enter, criminal harassment and voyeurism following two separate incidents in the City.

On January 11, 2020 at approximately 1:40 a.m. police received a call for service regarding a suspicious male on a porch at a Monaghan Road residence. It was reported that the male had been using electronic equipment to peer through a window and view persons inside the home.

Through the investigation the male suspect was identified. At approximately 2:30 a.m. on January 11, 2020 officers located the male suspect in the area of Sherbrooke Street.

As a result of the investigation Daniel Joseph McConnell, 36, of Sherbrooke Street, Peterborough was arrested and charged with criminal harassment – beset and watch complainant.

Through further investigation the accused was connected to an incident that occurred in the summer of 2019. Shortly after midnight on July 25, 2019 the female victim was at her Peterborough residence when she observed a male using electronic equipment to peer through a window at her while she was inside the home. The incident was reported to police but officers were unable to locate the suspect at the time of the offence.

As a result of this further investigation McConnell is additionally charged with the following:

  • Voyeurism
  • Break and enter

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on January 11, 2020, was remanded in custody and appeared again in court on January 13, 2020.
