Wednesday January 15, 2020 – Five persons charged, fentanyl and cocaine taken off streets following search warrants at Hunter Street East apartment

Drug Arrests:

Five persons have been arrested and charged following search warrants executed at two Hunter Street East apartments where officers located and seized Fentanyl, cocaine and a large quantity of cash.

As a result of an ongoing investigation on January 14, 2020 members of the Peterborough Police Service’s ICAD (Intelligence, Crime Analyst, Asset Forfeiture and Drug) Unit and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at two apartments in a Hunter Street East multi-unit residence.

During the search warrant officers located and seized items including cocaine, fentanyl, a large quantity of Canadian currency, cellular devices, and weigh scales. The total amount of drugs and cash seized will be released in a subsequent media release.

As a result of the investigation the following five persons were arrested and charged:

Denis Raymond Sims, 67, of Hunter Street East, Peterborough, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)

Carl Anthony Khan, 23, of Spencer Drive, Brampton, Ontario, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)

Kody Alexi Cummings, 22, of Winstanley Crescent, Scarborough, Ontario, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to probation order
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon (flip knife)
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking

Adam Khalil Nawar, 18, of no fixed address, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (Canadian currency

A 15-year-old Oshawa, Ontario male is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (Canadian currency)
  • Fail to comply with a sentence

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Code the name of a young person cannot be released.

All accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court today (Jan. 15).
