Wednesday January 15, 2020 – Peterborough man charged with manslaughter

Manslaughter Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service arrested and charged a 33-year-old Peterborough man with manslaughter following an incident in the summer of 2019.

On June 7, 2019 the accused and other parties, including the 40-year-old male victim, were at a multi-unit residence on Stewart Street. It was reported that during that time the accused physically assaulted the victim including striking him in the head with a firearm. The victim left the residence and as a result of the assault later died of his injuries.

Through the investigation the accused was identified.

As a result of the investigation on June 23, 2019 the accused was placed under arrest.

Joshua Amos Knott, 33, of Stewart Street, was charged with the following:

  • Manslaughter
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Assault with a weapon

The accused appeared in court on June 23, 2019.

At the time of the incident the Service was conducting another investigation involving the accused therefore the details regarding this incident were not released at the time.
