Wednesday January 15, 2020 – Peterborough teen facing charges including sexual assault, break and enter and forcible confinement following investigation

Sexual assault/assault arrest:

A 15-year-old Peterborough teen is facing several charges including sexual assault, assault, break and enter and forcible confinement following a domestic investigation.

The accused and victim, a female teen, were in a previous domestic relationship. It was reported to police that on January 13, 2020 while at a Peterborough residence the accused threatened the victim in order to gain entry into the residence.

Once inside the residence the victim was assaulted, sexually assaulted and prevented from leaving the residence. During the incident the accused threatened members of the victim’s family then left the residence. The incident was reported to police and offices investigated.

On January 15, 2020 officers attended a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, the accused, a 15-year-old Peterborough male, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Sexual assault
  • Assault
  • Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person
  • Forcible confinement
  • Break and enter
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm X4

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court today (Jan. 15).

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Assault causing bodily harm Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 60-year-old Peterborough man with assault causing bodily harm following an investigation.

On January 14, 2020 at approximately 1:20 a.m. the accused and victim were involved in a domestic dispute at a Peterborough residence. It was reported that during the dispute the accused assaulted the victim by choking her. EMS and police were called and attended the residence.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on January 14, 2020.

In order to protect the name of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Impaired/Dangerous operation Arrest:

A 24-year-old Selwyn, Ontario man is facing charges including dangerous operation and impaired driving following a single vehicle collision in East City.

On January 8, 2020 at approximately 11:40 p.m. police received a complaint from a concerned citizen regarding a vehicle driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed that had crashed at the intersection of Hunter and Burnham Streets. Police attended the intersection where they located the suspect vehicle involved in a single vehicle collision.

As a result of the investigation, which included the use of a breath test, the male driver was found to have twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Robert Puddicombe, 24, of 5th Line Selwen, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
  • Operation while impaired
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was issued an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 30, 2020.
