Feb. 8 – 10, 2020 – Police investigating after drugs and jewellery stolen during weekend incident

Ongoing Investigation:

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a Sunday night incident where the victims were robbed of drugs and jewellery.

On February 9, 2020 at approximately 7 p.m. the victims were at a Dalhousie Street residence when two men entered the home, brandished knives and demanded drugs and jewellery from the victims. The suspects left with an amount of drugs and jewellery. The incident was reported to police and police and paramedics attended. During the incident a male victim received a small cut that did not require medical attention. At this time this incident appears to be drug related.

The suspects are described as follows:

Impaired/Over 80mg Arrest:

A 19-year-old Caesarea, Ontario man is facing several charges including impaired driving following a motor vehicle collision in early February.

On February 2, 2020 at approximately 3:20 a.m. police were dispatched to the area of George Street North in response to a possible impaired driver that had struck a parked vehicle then attempted to leave the scene driving eastbound on Charlotte Street.

A short time later officers located the male driver standing in the area of George and Charlotte Streets. While speaking with the driver, officers noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath. A subsequent breath sample revealed the driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Rudolf Brown, 19, of Summit Drive, Caesarea, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
  • Novice driver – Blood alcohol content above zero (Highway Traffic Act charge)
  • Drive wrong way – one way traffic (Highway Traffic Act charge)
  • Fail to remain (Highway Traffic Act charge)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 25, 2020.

Mischief/Possession of stolen property Arrest:

A 25-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including mischief and possession of stolen property following a weekend incident in the area of Park Street South.

On February 8, 2020 at approximately 6:30 a.m. the victim was woken to the sounds of a male screaming and yelling in a Park Street South parking lot and then observed the same male punch and kick her vehicle. The parties involved do not know each other. Police were called and officers attended the area where they located the male suspect. The male was placed under arrest and during a search incident to arrest the male was found to be in possession of bank cards that had been stolen from a vehicle sometime overnight.

As a result of the investigation Brandon Wayne McConnell, 25, of no fixed address, is charged with the following:

  • Mischief under $5,0000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody, appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on February 8, 2020, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (Feb. 10).

Assault Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 40-year-old man with assault following an incident at a local restaurant.

During late evening on January 31, 2020 to the early morning hours of February 1, 2020 the female victim was at a Peterborough restaurant with other parties when a male that she knows assaulted her by striking her in the face. The incident was later reported to police.

As a result of the investigation, on February 9, 2020 officers attended a Peterborough residence where the accused was placed under arrest.

William Joseph Post, 40, of Stewart Street, is charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 5, 2020.

Mischief Arrest:

A 32-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with mischief after damage was caused to an Aylmer Street apartment building.

On February 9, 2020 an unknown male gained entrance into an Aylmer Street apartment building by following a resident into the locked building. Once inside the building it was reported that the accused caused damage including urinating on a floor in the hallway. Police were called and attended the building where they located the male suspect.

As a result of the investigation Dillon Brian Armstrong, 32, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 25, 2020.

Mischief Arrest:

A 30-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with mischief after damage was caused to a Princess Street retirement home.

On February 9, 2020 at approximately 3:30 a.m. a male attended a Princess Street retirement residence where he attempted to gain entrance into the home. It was reported that when staff denied him entrance the male kicked out one of the windows, causing it to smash. Police were called and officers attended where they located the male suspect.

As a result of the investigation Robert William Carrol-England, 30, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000, failure to comply with a release order, failure to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on February 9, 2020.

Domestic assault with a weapon Arrest:

A 40-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested on a warrant for charges including assault with a weapon following a domestic incident.

On August 10, 2019 the accused attended the victim’s Peterborough residence. It was reported that during the incident the accused kicked the door to the victim’s residence, causing damage, and also struck the victim with the door.

On August 26, 2019 a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused for the charges of assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.

On February 8, 2020 officers located the accused at a Peterborough residence where he was arrested on the warrant.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on February 9, 2020.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Additional Charges:

A 16-year-old Peterborough teen is facing additional charges of forcible confinement and assault following an investigation.

On February 6, 2020 police received information regarding an incident that occurred between the accused and the female victim the previous day. It was reported that while at a Peterborough residence the victim and accused became involved in a verbal argument at which point the accused assaulted the victim and prevented her from leaving the residence.

The accused is currently on custody on another matter. The additional charges of domestic assault and forcible confinement will be read in court today (Feb. 10).

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Break and Enter/Mischief Arrests:

A 19-year-old Peterborough teen and a 16-year-old Peterborough teen are facing charges including break and enter, possession of stolen property and mischief following an incident at a multi-unit residence on Sherbrooke Street.

On January 24, 2020 two unknown persons broke into a unit within a multiunit residence on Sherbrooke Street by breaking the door. Once inside the persons caused damage to the unit and stole several of the victim’s belongings. Through the investigation the co-accused were identified. The co-accused and the victim know each other.

On February 7, 2020 officers located the first accused in the area of Simcoe Street.

As a result of the investigation Kaitlyn Tamara Jamieson, 19, of Sherbrooke Street, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Break and enter
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on February 7, 2020.

On February 7, 2020 a warrant was issued for the arrest of the second accused, a 16-year-old Peterborough female, for the following charges:

  • Break and enter
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Failure to comply with a sentence
  • Fail to comply with an undertaking

At approximately 12:45 p.m. on February 7, 2020 officers located the teen in the area of Aylmer Street where she was arrested on the warrant.

The youth was release from custody and is scheduled to appear in court today (Feb. 10).

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
