Thursday February 13, 2020 – Peterborough man charged following break-in to multi-unit residence on Wilfred Drive

Break and Enter Arrest:

A 21-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged following a break-in to a Wilfred Drive apartment.

On February 7, 2020 at approximately 2:55 a.m. an unknown male broke into an apartment located in a multi-unit residence on Wilfred Drive in Peterborough. The residents were home at the time. One of the residents confronted the male and the male fled the area on foot. Police were called and officers and the Canine Unit attended. Through the investigation the male suspect was identified.

Shortly after 8 a.m. on February 12, 2020 officers located the male suspect at a multi-unit residence on Wilfred Drive where he was placed under arrest.

Alexander John Burke, 21, of Wilfred Drive, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Break and enter
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on February 12, 2020.

Theft Arrest:

A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing several theft charges following various incidents including the theft of a package from the front porch of a City residence.

On February 12, 2020 at approximately 3 p.m. a loss prevention officer at a Chemong Road store saw a male take merchandise off the shelf and conceal the item inside a bag. The male was then seen to exit the store without making an attempt to pay for the item. The loss prevention officer followed the male out of the store where he was placed under arrest for theft. Police were called and officers attended.

Through further investigation it was revealed that the accused was wanted on two warrants. The first warrant, issued on January 31, 2020, was for the offence of fail to comply with a probation order. The second warrant, issued on February 10, 2020, was for the offence of theft under $5,000 following a January 21, 2020 theft of a package from the front porch of an O’Connell Road home.

Further investigation also revealed the accused was the suspect from a January 16, 2020 theft where merchandise was stolen from a Clonsilla Avenue convenience store and from a January 31, 2020 incident where a bicycle was stolen from a Simcoe Street residence.

As a result of the investigation Jordan Allan Edgerton, 26, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5,000 X4
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Feb. 13).

Stolen Vehicle:

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a vehicle was stolen from Parkhill Road.

Sometime between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. on February 12, 2020 a 2012 four-door, bronze Hyundai Accent Ontario licence plate FAAD 379 was parked on the roadway on Parkhill Road when it was stolen by an unknown person(s).

Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose Arrest:

A 20-year-old Peterborough woman has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats following an early January incident.

On January 7, 2020 at approximately 11 p.m. the accused and female victim became involved in a verbal argument in the area of Park Street South and Albert Street. It was reported that during the incident the accused approached the victim while holding a knife and uttered threats. The parties involved know each other.

As a result of the investigation, on February 12, 2020 the accused attended the police station where she was placed under arrest.

Sarah-Nicole Cary, 20, of Applewood Crescent, is charged with the following:

  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 3, 2020.
