Friday May 15, 2020 – Peterborough teen arrested and charged with assault with a weapon following incident in Village of Lakefield

Assault with a Weapon Arrest:

A 17-year-old Peterborough teen has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon following an incident in the Village of Lakefield.

On Thursday May 14, 2020 at approximately 7:10 p.m. the female victim was sitting in her vehicle in a Lakefield parking lot to have a physical distancing visit with a friend when an unknown male approached her vehicle asking for help. The victim followed the male to the water’s edge where the male struck the victim in the head with a rock. The male then fled the area on foot. The incident was reported to police and officers investigated.

Through the investigation the accused was identified. At approximately 8:30 p.m. officers located the male behind a residence in the Village of Lakefield.

As a result of the investigation the accused, a 17-year-old male, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Fail to comply with a sentence X2

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today (May 15).
