May 16 – May 19, 2020 – Brampton teen and Toronto teen facing drug charges following weekend incident

Drug Arrests:

A 17-year-old Brampton teen and a 15-year-old Toronto teen are facing charges including possession of cocaine and possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking following an investigation at a multi-unit residence on Aylmer Street North.

On the morning of May 17, 2020 police received a call for service regarding an unwanted party in the common area within a multi-unit residence on Aylmer Street North. When officers arrived they observed two males within one of the units along with illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia. As a result of the investigation the two males were placed under arrest. During a search incident to arrest the males were found to be in possession of a large quantity of cash, weigh scales, crack cocaine and fentanyl. In total police seized the following:

  • 85g crack cocaine
  • 92g fentanyl
  • Approximately $14,300 cash

As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested and charged:

17-year-old Brampton, Ontario male is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule substance drug for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

15-year-old Toronto, Ontario male is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I drug for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I drug for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained crime over $5,000

The co-accused were held in custody and appeared in court on May 18, 2020.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

Domestic assault Arrest:

A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including assault causing bodily harm following an investigation.

On the night of May 17, 2020 the accused, a 31-year-old Peterborough man, and the female victim were at a Peterborough address where they became involved in a verbal argument. During the argument the accused assaulted the victim then stole her cellphone. Police were called and officers attended. Peterborough Paramedics also attended and the victim was transported to the hospital for assessment and treatment to her injuries.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
  • Assault
  • Theft under $5,000

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on May 18, 2020.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Assault Arrest:

A 58-year-old Peterborough woman is facing two counts of assault with a weapon and a further assault charge following a Saturday night incident.

On May 16, 2020 at approximately 8:11 p.m. police responded to a disturbance at a Chamberlain Street residence for an individual who was throwing water at individuals below her balcony.

It was reported that during the evening several persons became involved in a verbal argument at which point the accused dumped a bucket of water on an adult female victim then threw the bucket down at an adult male victim, striking the male. It was reported that the victim then took a lit cigarette and flicked a cigarette at another adult male victim.

As a result of the investigation Wendy Anne Cameron, 58, of Chamberlain Street, was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon X2 and assault. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 14, 2020.

Domestic assault Arrest:

A 37-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with domestic assault following an investigation.

On May 15, 2020 at approximately 7:34 p.m. police were dispatched to a Peterborough residence for a domestic assault. It was reported that during a verbal argument the male accused assaulted the female victim.

Further information revealed the accused was wanted on a warrant for the charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm – choke, and mischief under $5,000 from an April 16, 2020 incident. The accused was arrested on the warrant and transported to the police station. Through further investigation the accused was also charged with domestic assault from the May 15, 2020 incident.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on May 16, 2020.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Break and Enter:

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a break-in at a Fortye Drive home.

Sometime between 5:30 p.m. on May 16, 2020 and 1:40 p.m. on May 17, 2020 unknown person(s) entered the attached garage at a Fortye Drive home and stole a generator valued between $800 and $1,000.

Break and Enter: Park Street South

The Peterborough Police Service is asking anyone with information to come forward following a break-in at a Park Street South home.

Sometime between May 4, 2020 and May 18, 2020 unknown person(s) broke into a Park Street South home while the homeowner was away. Once inside the thieves stole items including clothing and jewellery.

Mischief Arrest:

A 17-year-old Peterborough teen is facing charges including mischief and possession of fentanyl following an incident at a local youth home.

On May 18, 2020 police were dispatched to a local youth home for a male resident who was causing damage to the residence including striking the walls. Officers attended and the male youth was placed under arrest to prevent a breach of the peace. During the investigation the make was found to be in possession of fentanyl.

As a result of the investigation the male youth was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Fentanyl
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 13, 2020.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Ace the name of a young person cannot be released.

Break and Enter:

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a break-in at a Chemong Road restaurant.

On May 19, 2020 at approximately 1:25 a.m. police were dispatched to a Chemong Road restaurant for a break and enter. During the incident an unknown male attended the drive through window and was able to break into the restaurant through the window. Once inside the male suspect stole a food item.
