A 45-year-old Fraserville, Ontario man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in the City of Peterborough.
On May 9, 2020 at approximately 9:34 p.m. an officer on patrol in the area of Romaine Street and Park Street South conducted a traffic stop after observing the vehicle being driven by a suspended driver.
As a result of the investigation the driver, Jason Nesbitt, 45, of Larmer Line, Fraserville, was placed under arrest for driving while under suspension.
During the investigation the accused was found to be in possession of an amount of purple fentanyl. The accused was further charged with possession of a schedule I substance (fentanyl).
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 8, 2020.
Theft of Motor Vehicle Arrest:
A 21-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged after a truck was stolen from a Spillsbury Drive home.
Sometime between 4:30 p.m. on May 9, 2020 and 11 a.m. on May 10, 2020 a 2004 GMC truck was stolen from the driveway of a Spillsbury Drive home. The incident was reported to police and officers investigated. Later that same night police located the vehicle parked in the area of Spillsbury Drive and Parcells Crescent.
On the evening of May 10, 2020 police investigated a separate and unrelated incident where a male was arrested and charged. Through the investigation it was determined that the male was connected to the theft of the motor vehicle.
As a result of the investigation Austin McGowan-Smith, 21, of no fixed address, Peterborough, is charged with the following:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Fail to comply with probation
The accused, already in custody, appeared in court on May 11, 2020 where the additional charges were read.
Break and Enter: Lansdowne Street East restaurant
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a break-in at a Lansdowne Street East restaurant.
At approximately 2:35 p.m. on May 10, 2020 an unknown male gained entry into a Lansdowne Street West restaurant through an insecure door. Once inside the suspect stole items including cases of wine and other alcohol. The incident was reported to police and officers investigated.
