Friday July 24, 2020 – Peterborough man charged with domestic assault and criminal harassment following investigation

Domestic assault/criminal harassment Arrest:

A 51-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with domestic assault and criminal harassment following an investigation.

On July 23, 2020 at approximately 5 p.m. police were dispatched to a Peterborough residence for an unwanted male at the residence.

When police arrived it was reported that the female victim had advised the accused she no longer wanted any contact with him but the accused continued to make repeated and unwanted contact including attending her residence that evening. It was also reported that on July 20, 2020 during a domestic dispute the accused had assaulted the victim.

Officers located the accused still in the area and as a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault
  • Criminal harassment

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 22, 2020.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic dispute the name of the accused will not be released.

Possession of stolen property Arrest:

Following an investigation a 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including three counts of possession of stolen property and two counts of use of credit card.

On July 24, 2020 at approximately 2:30 a.m. an officer on patrol was flagged down by a person reporting that he was attempting to track a male who was in possession of his partner’s stolen credit card. His partner, the victim, had received notification from her bank that her credit card had been used at various locations including at a local gas station convenience store.

Officers attended the convenience store where the male accused was located and placed under arrest.

During a search incident to arrest the accused was found to be in possession of the victim’s wallet and credit card along with property that had been stolen out of vehicles in the area of Goodfellow Road and St. Mary’s Street.

As a result of the investigation, Michael Francis Duncan, 35, of Bolivar Street, is charged with the following:

  • Use of stolen credit card X2
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 X3
  • Fail to comply with probation X3

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 22, 2020.
