Tuesday July 28, 2020: Peterborough man facing charges including assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose following domestic incident

Domestic assault/Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose Arrest:

A 51-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose following a domestic incident.

On July 27, 2020 at approximately 7:40 p.m. police responded to a Peterborough residence for a domestic dispute. It was reported that during the dispute the accused assaulted the victim and brandished a kitchen knife and threatened the victim. The accused then left the residence.

Police made contact with the accused and later that same night he attended the police station where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Domestic assault
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 28, 2020.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

Obstruct police/cause disturbance:

Two Peterborough men are facing charges including causing a disturbance, resisting a peace officer and obstructing police following a Monday afternoon incident in the area of Bethune Street.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. on July 27, 2020 an officer on general patrol saw a male and female riding an e-bike without wearing a helmet. In Ontario all operators and passengers must wear an approved bicycle or motorcycle helmet.

The e-bike came to a stop at a Bethune Street residence at which point the officer spoke with the male driver. The driver became irate with police and was cautioned for threatening and attempting to engage officers in a physical fight. The male’s behaviour continued to escalate at which point the male was arrested to prevent a breach of the peace, during which point he resisted.

As a result of the investigation Duncan James Corbiere, 36, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Resist peace officer
  • Cause disturbance
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 29, 2020.

During the incident another male began yelling at responding officers and causing a disturbance by attracting the attention of pedestrians and passerby. The male was spoken to by officers and told to leave the area. The male refused, at which point officers again told the male to leave the area as he was obstructing the investigation. The male continued to cause a disturbance and interfere in the investigation at which point he was placed under arrest.

Nick Joseph Dew, 29, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Obstruct police
  • Cause disturbance
  • Breach of probation

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 29, 2020.

Domestic assault Arrest:

A 19-year-old Millbrook, Ontario man has been charged with domestic assault following an incident.

On the night of July 26, 2020 the accused and female victim were at a Millbrook, Ontario residence where they became involved in a dispute. It was reported that during the dispute the accused assaulted the victim.

As a result of the investigation the accused, a 19-year-old Millbrook, Ontario man, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and breach of probation.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 1, 2020.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
