Tuesday July 28, 2020 – Peterborough teen facing charges including pointing firearm and assault with a weapon following incident in area of Lake Street

Point Firearm Arrest:

A 16-year-old Peterborough teen is facing charges including pointing a firearm and assault with a weapon following a BB gun incident in the area of Lake Street.

On July 27, 2020 at approximately 2:10 p.m. police received calls regarding two males with weapons in the area of Lake Street.

It was reported that one of the youths, a 16-year-old male, had been involved in a dispute with the adult male victim and during the dispute had fired a BB gun several times at the victim, striking the victim. It was reported that the victim did not sustain any injuries. The youths then fled the area on bicycles in the area of Olive Avenue and Perry Street. During the investigation officers located and seized the weapon, a BB gun, in the area of Lake Street.

Officers located both youths. One of the youths was arrested and later released unconditionally.

As a result of the investigation, the second youth, a 16-year-old male, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Point firearm
  • Weapons dangerous
  • Assault with a weapon

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (July 28).

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
