Assault Police Officer Arrest:

In the early morning hours of August 7, 2020 police observed a vehicle parked in the Tim Hortons parking lot in East City with its lights on. The store was not open. Approximately 1-2 hours later police drove by the parking lot again and still noticed the vehicle parked with its lights still on.

Police approached the vehicle and observed one lone male who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel. Police attempted to wake the male up but he was unresponsive. After several attempts the male started to respond to police requests. At one point the male went to reach between the driver’s seat and the center console. He was prevented from doing so. Officers later located a large hunting knife in this location.

The male refused to exit the vehicle. Officers had to cut away the seat belt to remove the male. As the male was being removed he resisted and kicked at officers.

The male was believed to be impaired by an unknown substance. He was placed under arrest for Care and Control of a vehicle while impaired. A search of the vehicle located the large hunting knife, digital scales, crystal meth and cannabis oil.

Michael Fallis age 40 of Peterborough has been charged with assaulting a peace officer and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Fallis was held in custody for a bail hearing on August 7, 2020.
