Domestic Assault Arrest:

A 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing assault and other charges after a domestic dispute at a Peterborough Residence.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on October 5, 2020 the victim and the accused became involved in an argument.  The argument escalated and the victim was assaulted.  The victim was able to flee the residence and get to a place of safety to call police.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle; assault – spousal and uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal.

The accused was held in custody and will appear in court today, October 6, 2020.

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Weapons Arrest:

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with weapon offences after an investigation in a Lansdowne Street parking lot on Monday evening.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. on October 5, 2020 the accused and two victims became involved in an altercation in a Lansdowne Street parking lot.  The accused then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at both of the victims who were able to leave and call police.

Police arrived and located the accused and were able to determine that the handgun was a BB gun.

As a result of the investigation, Randy Hiorns, 20, of Burnham Court, Peterborough, was arrested and charged pointing a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 28, 2020.
