Arrest On Warrants:
On June 24, 2022, just after 1 am police attended a Hunter Street East residence regarding an ongoing investigation. Through investigation police discovered there were two outstanding warrants for a 24-year-old male in the residence. The outstanding warrants were for one charge of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to attend court after appearing.
The accused, of no fixed address was arrested and transported to the Peterborough Police Service. The accused is to appear in court on June 24, 2022.
Drug Arrest:
On June 24, 2022, just before 4:30 pm members of the Peterborough Police Emergency Response Team conducted a vehicle stop in the parking lot of a Lansdowne Street West business. An 18-year-old and 19- year- old male were located in the vehicle. Police arrested the driver and passenger for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
As a result of the search of the vehicle, the following items were located:
- 4.3 grams of fentanyl
- 10 grams of cocaine
- 20x oxycodone pills
- A quantity of Canadian Currency over $1,000
The driver of the motor vehicle has been charged with the following criminal offences:
S. 354(1)(a) CC - Possession property obtained by crime under $5000
S. 5(2) CDSA - Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid
S. 5(1) CDSA - Traffick in a schedule 1 substance - opioid (fentanyl) x3
S. 5(2) CDSA - Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
S. 5(2) CDSA - Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
The passenger has been charged with the following criminal offences:
S. CDSA 5(2) - Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
S. CDSA 5(2) - Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl
S. CDSA 5(2) - Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Oxycodone
S. CC 354(1)(a) - Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
S. CC 145(5)(a) - Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
S. CC 733.1(1) - Fail to comply with probation order
Both persons were transported to the police station and held for a bail hearing on June 24, 2022.
