Aggravated Assault Arrest
A 14-year-old Lakehurst male is facing charges after an incident in Peterborough Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 4:30pm on June 30, 2022, officers were called to the area of the trail near George Street North and Dalhousie Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old victim suffering from stab wounds after an altercation between the suspect and a group of people. The victim was treated at the scene by EMS and taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
On July 2, 2022, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Lakehurst and took the accused into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old Lakehurst male was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Failure to comply with undertaking
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
Aggravated Assault Arrest
A 51-year-old Peterborough man is facing a number of charges after an incident on Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 1:00pm on June 30, 2022, officers were called to the area of the London Street footbridge. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from stab wounds. They learned that two men had been in the area when one of them stabbed the other. The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Several hours later the suspect turned himself in to police.
As a result, a 51-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault – Adult
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Friday, July 1, 2022.
Robbery/Assault Arrest
A 30-year-old Selwyn Township woman is facing charges after an incident Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 6:30pm on June 30, 2022, officers were made aware of an incident involving a man and a woman at a construction site in the area of Chemong Road and Broadway Boulevard. An altercation ensued between the pair with the suspect attacking the male and taking his backpack.
The suspect was arrested later that day in Durham Region and charged with:
- Robbery with Violence
- Assault – Spousal
- Assault with a Weapon – Spousal
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 19, 2022.
In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
Threats Arrest
A 32-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident on Thursday evening.
At approximately 7:15pm on June 30, 2022, officers were called to a residence on Parkhill Road West in Cavan. Upon arrival, officers learned that the owner of the home was receiving threatening messages and that the suspect had been at the property going through a shed. Officers located the suspect a short time later walking on Lansdowne Street West and took him into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Criminal Harassment
- Utter threats
- Fail to comply with probation
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Friday, July 1, 2022.
Robbery Suspect Sought
Peterborough Police are investigating after a robbery at a convenience store in Peterborough Thursday evening.
At approximately 9:30pm on June 30, 2022, officers were called to the convenience store in the Lansdowne Street East and Ashburnham Drive area. Upon arrival, several witnesses told officers they were approaching the store and saw the clerk with their hands in the air and a suspect pointing something at the clerk. The clerk waved at the witnesses to not enter the store. The witnesses then saw the suspect leave the store and head north on Ashburnham Drive on a bicycle.
The suspect was described to police as:
- Male
- Tall with a thin build
- Wearing a black hoodie and black pants with grey socks, sandals, and a red bandana mask
- Carrying a grey backpack
