Robbery Arrest
Two Peterborough men are facing charges after a robbery Tuesday night in Peterborough.
Just before 6:00pm on February 15, 2022, officers were called to a convenience store in the Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned that two males had entered the store and threatened the clerk with knives before fleeing the store with some items. No one was injured in the incident.
At approximately 3:30 am on February 16, 2022, an officer on patrol spotted a man matching the description given to police standing with a group in the area of Brock Street and George Street. The officer was able to take the man in custody and while speaking to the others noticed a second man matching the description given to police in connection with the robbery and he was taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation:
A 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Robbery with Weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused was further charged with the following in connection with a theft incident at a business in the Hunter Street West and Aylmer Street area on February 11, 2022:
- Theft under $5000
- Fail to comply with probation
The accused was held in custody and will appear in court today, February 16, 2022.
A 22-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Robbery with Weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
