Weapons Dangerous Arrest

A 21-year-old woman and 23-year-old man have been charged in connection with a disturbance on Brock Street Friday afternoon. 

The female accused is currently bound by a Prohibition Order with the condition not to possess any prohibited weapons and the male accused is currently bound by a Probation Order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. 

At approximately, 1:45 p.m. on November 27, 2020, police were called to the area of Brock Street and Chambers Street after reports of a man threatening and assaulting other men with a knife. 

Police attended the scene and found the accused walking not far from the area.  As a result of the investigation police recovered three knives including two that are considered prohibited weapons.

21-year-old Alisha Newell-Breen of Oshawa is charged with Possession of Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order.

23-year-old Jacob Moore of Peterborough is charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Weapons Dangerous
  • Utter threats
  • Fail to comply with probation

The victims were not injured in the incident.

Newell-Breen was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court December 15, 2020.

Moore was held in custody and will make a second court appearance today, November 30, 2020.

 

Dangerous Weapons Arrest

A 22-year-old Peterborough man has been charged after an incident at Brock Street and George Street early Friday evening. 

At approximately, 5:15 p.m. on November 27, 2020, police were called to the area about an altercation between two people with knives.

As a result of an investigation, police found a knife on the ground nearby and a knife on the accused.

22-year-old Noah Dormer of Peterborough was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

No one was injured in the altercation.

Dormer was held in custody and will make a second court appearance today, November 30, 2020.

 

Impaired (Drugs) Arrest

A 49-year-old Bridgenorth man is facing an impaired charge after an off-duty OPP officer came upon a vehicle stopped at an intersection in Cavan early Sunday morning.

At approximately, 5:45a.m. on November 29, 2020, police were called to Lansdowne Street West and Rothesay Avenue where a male was found in the driver’s seat of a car.  When police arrived, they noticed obvious signs of impairment and found a small amount of drugs (cocaine) inside the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, 49-year-old Scott Thompson of Bridgenorth was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by drugs and possession of cocaine.

The accused was served an automatic 90-day drivers license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on December 17, 2020.

 

Assault and Foot Pursuit Arrest

A 41-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges including assault and escaping lawful custody after an altercation Sunday morning.

At approximately, 8 a.m. on November 29, 2020 police were called and attended after reports of an altercation between two men that started at a house on Townsend Street and ended several blocks away.  During the arrest, the accused attempted to escape by running through neighbourhood properties.  Police were able to apprehend the accused.

As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Kirk VanHoekelen of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Escape Lawful Custody
  • Resist a Peace Officer

The victim received injuries during the assault and was treated at the scene by paramedics.  

The accused was held in custody and will appear in court today, November 30, 2020.

 

Domestic Assault Arrest

A 47-year-old Peterborough woman is facing several charges after a domestic incident on Sunday afternoon. 

At approximately, 3:00 p.m. on November 29, 2020 police were called to an apartment on Brock Street regarding a domestic dispute. 

As the accused was leaving the residence, she assaulted a 67-year-old relative of her partner causing their glasses to break.  While the accused was resisting arrest, she assaulted a police officer.  

As a result of an investigation, a 47-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Mischief Under $5000

The victim went to hospital on their own accord.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court today, November 30, 2020.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this case the name of the accused will not be released.

 

Impaired Arrest after Motor Vehicle Collision

A 53-year-old Peterborough woman is facing several impaired charges after a motor vehicle collision in the city early Sunday evening.

At approximately 5:15 p.m. police were called to the intersection of Highland Road and Donegal Street where a minivan carrying a family of four had been rear-ended by another vehicle.  Police arrived on scene and confirmed the driver of the car was showing signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, Carmel Simmons of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

One of the adult victims was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with minor injuries.  None of the other people in the car were injured.

The accused was served an automatic 90-day drivers license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released by way of an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on December 17, 2020.

 

Arson Arrest

A 54-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after three fires were set outside the Peterborough Police Station Sunday evening.

The accused is currently bound by a Probation Order with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. 

At approximately 5:30p.m. on November 29, 2020, entered the Peterborough Police Station at 500 Water Street, police asked the accused to leave the police station due to COVID-19 protocols because he was loitering.

The accused left the station, placed some personal items on the concrete edge of a flower bed and lit them on fire several times.

As a result of the investigation, 54-year-old Michael Noble of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief under $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, November 30, 2020.
