Stunt Driving Arrest
A 38-year-old Cobourg man is facing a stunt driving charge after a traffic stop Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 4:00 pm on February 18, 2021, an officer on traffic duty on Clonsilla Avenue clocked the vehicle going 114km/hour in a 50km/hour zone.
As a result, the 38-year-old driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – speeding 50 or more km/hour
- Owner operate motor vehicle on highway – no insurance
The accused received a 7-day license suspension and the vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Weapons Arrest
A 17-year-old Peterborough male is facing weapons charges after an incident Wednesday morning.
At approximately 8:30am on February 17, 2021, police received a call that the accused had broken into a gun locker in their home in the Ashburnham Drive and Maria Street area. Officers arrived on scene and the accused was arrested without incident. During the arrest officers found a loaded handgun on the accused.
As a result, he was charged with:
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of Weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Mischief Under $5,000 (breaking into the locker)
For safety reasons, officers seized several other guns from the home.
The accused was released on an undertaking and will appear in court on March 15, 2021.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Code the name of a young person cannot be released.
In order to protect the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
