Weapons Arrest

A 22-year-old Omemee man is facing charges after an incident a Peterborough business Thursday afternoon. 

Just after noon on May 19, 2022, officers were called to a business on Pido Road after reports of a temporary employee making threats towards others.  Upon arrival, officers learned that the employee refused to leave the worksite after being asked by management.  During the investigation, officers also learned that the employee had flashed a gun before being seen running away from the area and hiding.  Officers then spotted the employee attempting to walk away from the area and were able to take him into custody, locating a BB-Style firearm where he had been hiding.  A search of the suspect’s backpack also revealed a knife and some cocaine.

As a result, a 22-year-old Omemee man was arrested and charged with:  

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm X2
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 30, 2022.

 

Theft Arrest

A 42-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man both wanted on warrants are facing charges in connection with a theft. 

At approximately 4:45am on Thursday, May 19, 2022, officers received a call from a resident. Their wallet had been stolen from their vehicle and they were able to follow the trail of where the cards had been used before spotting two people with some of their items outside a business in the Lansdowne Street West and The Parkway area.  Upon arrival to the area, officers located two people in the area matching the description provided to police and took them into custody. 

As a result, a 42-year-old woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant and further charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 in Canada. 

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 16, 2022.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on the warrant from another police service and further charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 16, 2022.

Theft Arrest

A 45-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident at a Peterborough business.

At approximately 3:00pm on May 19, 2022, officers were called to a business in the Charlotte Street and George Street area about a theft that had just happened. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had entered the store, became verbally aggressive and then left the store with a number of items.  A short time later officers spotted a woman, matching the description given to police, walking on George Street and took her into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5000.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 28, 2022.
