Thank you for joining us today as we provide an update on the homicide this past weekend.
Just after 2:00pm on Saturday July 2, 2022, Peterborough Police were called to the Park Street North and Sherbrooke Street area after reports that a person had been shot.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim and administered CPR before they were taken Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Sadly, the 37-year-old man succumbed to the injuries received in the shooting in hospital.
This is the second homicide of 2022. And the Peterborough Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch continues to investigate.
Peterborough Police does not believe this was a random incident and continues to search for suspects.
The safety of the residents in our community is the number one priority of the Peterborough Police Service and we understand that safety is also a concern in our community. We are working to gather as much information as possible and locate the suspects involved.
It’s believed that there may be more witnesses that were in the area at the time, and we are thankful no others were injured.
Knowing that there may be more witnesses, Peterborough Police are asking anyone with information to come forward… to call the Peterborough Police Crime Line at 705-876-1122 x555 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online through www.stopcrimehere.ca
