Theft of Jewelry
Peterborough Police are investigating after a jewelry store was broken into early Monday morning.
At approximately 6:00am on May 30, 2022, officers were called to Lansdowne Place Mall after an alarm went off. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male had broken into the mall and then a jewelry store before fleeing with the following worth about $19,000:
- 19 Citizen Watches (men’s & women’s)
- 83 Silver Necklaces including several with intricate detailing
- $200 in Canadian Currency
The male suspect was last spotted heading eastbound on Lansdowne Street on a bicycle and is described as wearing (photo attached):
- A black sweater with red and white lettering
- Grey pants
- Black face covering
- Black shoes
- Black hat
- Backpack

Theft of Dogs
Peterborough Police investigating after three puppies were taken from a home Saturday.
At approximately 1:15pm on May 28, 2022, officers were called to a residence in the High Street and Brown Street area of Peterborough. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had entered the residence and left with the American Bulldog mix puppies, two males and a female.
The puppies were described to police as:
- Male, brindle with white patch on chest
- Male, white with brown ears and around eyes
- Female, brindle back, white chest, white stripe between eyes

Suspicious Package – No Threat
Peterborough Police were called to investigate a suspicious package that was located in downtown Peterborough Friday night.
At approximately 11:30pm on May 27, 2022, officers were called to the area of Charlotte Street and George Street. Through investigation it was determined that the package was not a threat and belonged to a nearby business.
Thank you to the public as the area was closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic during the investigation.
Possession Stolen Property Arrest
A 19-year-old Toronto man is facing charges after an incident at Beavermead Park on Saturday.
At approximately 11:00pm on May 28, 2022, officers were called to the park about a party and cars driving on the lawn. Upon arrival, officers learned about a car that had been driven erratically in the parking lot and then took off across the soccer fields. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and took the driver into custody. During the investigation, officers learned the man was wanted in another jurisdiction and that the vehicle had also been reported stolen.
As a result, the 19-year-old Toronto man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court x2
- Dangerous operation
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (Provincial Offence Notice)
- Engage in prohibited activity on premises (Provincial Offence Notice)
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on May 29, 2022.
Impaired Arrest
A 29-year-old City of Kawartha Lakes man is facing an impaired charge after an incident early Sunday morning.
At approximately 2:00am on May 29, 2022, officers were called to a single vehicle collision on Nassau Mills Road. Upon arrival, officers learned that the car had swerved off the road and into a ditch and that the driver had left the area. Officers were able to locate the driver a short distance away and noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old City of Kawartha Lakes man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused received an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impound.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 21, 2022.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
A 39-year-old Bewdley man is facing charges after an incident Saturday morning.
At approximately 6:30am on May 28, 2022, officers were called to a business on Fisher Drive in Peterborough about a vehicle that had entered a private lot and was unable to leave. Upon arrival officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen in Durham Region. During the investigation officers also located several credit cards.
As a result, a 39-year-old Bewdley man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada
- Possession property obtained by crime over $5000 - in Canada
- Fail to comply with probation order x2
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 15, 2022.
