Impaired Arrest
A 39-year-old Stirling man is facing a number of charges including impaired driving after an incident on Wednesday evening in the North End of the city.
The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with a condition to abstain from the possession or consumption of drugs except in accordance with a medical prescription.
At approximately 8:10 p.m. on November 18, 2020 police received a report from a concerned motorist about a driver slumped over the steering wheel at the intersection of Chemong Road and Towerhill Road. Witnesses alerted the driver who then left the area.
Police were notified and located the vehicle driving on Hilliard Street. Police attempted to stop the vehicle; however the vehicle failed to stop and continued driving onto George Street. Police were able to stop the vehicle on Benson Avenue.
While Police were speaking with the driver he was showing obvious signs of impairment. Police also located drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, Ryan Fife, 39, of Stirling, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – drugs
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Flight from police
- Failure to comply with undertaking
The accused was held in custody and will appear in court today, November 19, 2020.
Break and Enter
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating a break and enter after a home was entered and property was stolen in the North End of the City.
Sometime between 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on November 18, 2020 unknown person(s) broke a basement window to a residence in the North End of the city.
Once inside the suspect(s) stole a large quantity of jewelry, electronics and purses.
