Kidnapping/Assault with a Weapon Arrest

A 39-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Monday morning. 

At approximately 6:30am on February 21, 2022, officers received a 9-1-1 call to a residence in Peterborough about domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers learned that the accused had woken the victim up and threatened her with a knife before forcing her and a young child into a vehicle and leaving the area before returning to the residence.  Once back at the residence, the suspect fled.  Officers located him a short distance away and took him into custody.  No one was injured in the incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Kidnapping
  • Assault with a Weapon - Spousal
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal

The accused was held in custody and will appear in court today, February 22, 2022.

 

Robbery Suspect Sought

Peterborough Police are investigating after two robberies were reported at the same business recently. 

On Sunday, February 20, 2022, officers were notified of two recent incidents at a convenience store in the Parkhill Road West and Monaghan Road.  The first happened on Monday, February 14, 2022 at approximately 10:30am when a woman entered the store, brandished a knife and demanded money.   The second happened on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at about 8:00pm when the same person returned to the store demanding money and then fleeing.  Cash was taken in both instances.

The woman was described to police as:

  • About 40-50 years old
  • Long Black Jacket with white interior lining
  • Light blue jeans
  • Black Short boots
  • Black face mask

Impaired Arrest

A 52-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges.

At approximately 3:00pm on Sunday, February 20, 2022, police received a call about a vehicle that had crashed into a snowbank. Officers arrived to the scene, only to learn the car had left the area.  While they were there a second call came in about a vehicle being driven erratically in the Chemong Road and Towerhill Road area.   Officers with the help of a witness located the vehicle in a parking lot and observed obvious signs of impairment with the driver.

As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on March 9, 2022.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges.

At approximately 4:00 am on Saturday, February 19, 2022, officers were called to a vehicle in the ditch on Bensfort Road and Otonabee Drive. Upon arrival at the scene, another vehicle was there trying to get the other out of the ditch.  Officers noticed the obvious signs of impairment with driver of the vehicle in the ditch. 

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on March 15, 2022.
