Assault Peace Officer Arrest
A 39-year-old Brampton man is facing charges after an incident Saturday evening.
At approximately 10:20pm on February 20, 2021, officers were called to a gas bar on Highway 7 about a customer causing a disturbance. When officers arrived, they located the accused who wouldn’t tell them why he had been dropped off at the gas bar or if he had a place to go.
Officers attempted to find the accused a place to stay for the night in Peterborough, but had no luck given the restrictions due to the COVID pandemic. This turn of events agitated the accused and he lay down in the middle of the city street and made threatening remarks about committing a crime to get arrested.
As a result, officers took him into custody to prevent a breach of the peace. During the arrest and booking, the accused spat on and kicked a special constable.
39-year-old Seran Kasilingam of Brampton was further charged with:
- Assault a peace officer X2
The accused was held in custody overnight and released on an undertaking the following morning. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 10, 2021.
