Domestic Assault Arrest

A 30-year-old Lakefield man is facing charges of spousal assault and animal cruelty after police were called Monday night.

At approximately, 5:30pm on January 4, 2021, police were called about a series of incidents over several days arising from escalating verbal arguments.  It was reported that the female victim had been assaulted twice and her dog choked.  

As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Lakefield man is charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Spousal
  • Assault – Spousal
  • Cruelty to Animals causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury

The accused was held in custody and will appear in court today, January 5, 2021.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

 

Theft Arrests: Wolsely Street

A 46-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman are facing theft charges after an incident in Peterborough Saturday morning.

The 46-year-old accused is currently bound by a probation with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and an undertaking with the condition to not communicate with the co-accused. 

At approximately, 8:45 a.m. on January 2, 2021, officers were called to a residence on Wolsely Street after the homeowner noticed their garage had been rifled through and an unknown male was in the driveway.  When police arrived, the male and a female had discarded property from a vehicle. 

As a result of an investigation:

46-year-old Steven Baker of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000
  • Breach of an Undertaking
  • Breach of Probation

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on January 26, 2021.

28-year-old Kelsey Davis of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000 (Party to the offence)

Davis was also charged with assaulting a police officer during the arrest.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on January 19, 2021.
