St. Patrick’s Day Increased Presence

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up on Friday, the Peterborough Police Service is asking residents choosing to celebrate — to celebrate responsibly.

Peterborough Police will have an increased presence throughout the City of Peterborough, Village of Lakefield, and Township of Cavan-Monaghan to respond to an anticipated increase in calls for service, such as noise or disturbance calls. There will also be RIDE check stops throughout the day and evening.

Please don’t drive impaired. If you are going out, make sure you have a safe ride home at the end of your evening.

You can:

  • Select a designated driver in your group
  • Arrange a ride ahead of time
  • Stay overnight if possible

Don’t leave your safety and the safety of others to the Luck of the Irish — Please plan ahead.

 

Assault Arrest

A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident at a Peterborough business Tuesday evening.

At approximately 8:30pm on March 14, 2023, officers were called to a business in the Lansdowne Street West and Goodfellow Road area about a man who had taken items from a store.  Upon arrival, officers learned that the loss prevention officers on duty had been able to take the man into custody after a struggle.  During the investigation, the male provided an incorrect name to officers.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with intent to resist arrest
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court April 5, 2023.

 

Assault Arrest

A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Wednesday morning. 

At approximately 1:15am on March 15, 2023, police received a call for service about a robbery at a residence.  Officers learned that the suspect and the victim were known to each other and that the suspect had gone to the victim’s residence and threatened her with a knife, pinned her against a wall, took some items and left.  The victim did not require medical treatment.  Officers attended the suspect’s residence and took him into custody. 

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery

The accused was also wanted on an outstanding warrant in another jurisdiction.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 15, 2023.
