Intimate Partner Violence Arrest

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Thursday evening.

At approximately 5:30pm on March 27, 2025, officers were called to a residence.  Upon arrival, officers learned that over the past two days there had been several verbal disputes between a man and a woman that had escalated resulting in the woman being verbally threatened, struck, having a knife held to her throat and choked.  There was also damage to walls in the residence.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault – Spousal
  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choke
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal
  • Assault with a Weapon - Spousal
  • Mischief - Domestic

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 28, 2025.

The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Stunt Driving Charge

A 20-year-old driver is facing a stunt driving charge after a traffic stop in Peterborough Thursday morning.

At approximately 11:40am on March 27, 2025, an officer from the Traffic Unit was on general patrol in the area of Water Street and Marina Boulevard.  A vehicle was spotted travelling at a high rate of speed and was recorded going 103 in a 50km/h zone. 

As a result, the driver was charge with:

  • Stunt in excess of 40km/hr
  • Speeding 103km/h in a 50km/h

The driver was issued a 30-day license suspension and the vehicle impounded for 14 days. 

 

Impaired Arrest

A 40-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Friday morning.

At approximately 12:50am on March 28, 2025, officers received a call that a car had struck a house in the Parkhill Road West and Aylmer Street North area and the driver fled the scene.  Upon arrival to the area, K9 Gryphon was deployed and conducted a track of over a kilometer meeting up with officers who had located a man matching the description given to police several blocks away.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Fail to Remain (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court May 6, 2025.

The Peterborough Police Service would like to thank everyone who called in about this incident.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 27-year-old Bowmanville woman is facing charges after an incident Thursday evening.

At approximately 8:00pm on March 27, 2025, Peterborough Police received several calls about a vehicle that had hit a stop sign in the area of Lake Street and Aylmer Street, had front end damage and was being driven on rims.  More calls came in about the vehicle being driven erratically on the 115.  An officer in the area of the County Road 10 and the 115 located two vehicles off to the side of the highway.  Upon speaking with the driver of the vehicle that matched the description given to police, the officer noticed signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old Bowmanville woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court May 6, 2025. 

The Peterborough Police Service would like to thank everyone who called in and made efforts to get the vehicle to stop.

 

Warrant Arrest

A 27-year-old Peterborough man wanted on multiple warrants for uttering threats, fail to comply, fail to appear, resist peace officer and obstruct was located in Peterborough.  The man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and is being held in custody.  He will appear in court today, March 28, 2025.
