A 47-year-old Kingston man has been charged with sexual assault after an incident in Peterborough last Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 7:50pm on December 10, 2024, officers were made aware of an incident that had happened earlier in the afternoon involving a part-time course instructor at Trent University in the Mathematics Department and a student. The incident happened when the student asked for extra help in preparation for an exam. During the meeting, which was off campus at a local business at the request of the part-time course instructor, it involved non-consensual touching.
As a result, an investigation was conducted and on Friday, December 13, 2024, a 47-year-old man with the initials A.M. was arrested in Kingston and brought back to Peterborough.
He appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on December 14, 2024.
The Peterborough Police Service takes reports of sexual assault very seriously and is very aware about the importance of a trauma-informed response.

Trent University has been made aware of the situation and is co-operating.
As this matter is now before the courts, there will be no more information released.
