Luring Arrest
A 26-year-old Scarborough man is facing charges after an investigation by the Peterborough Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
In February, officers participated in Project Series, a collaborative initiative led by the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU) in partnership with the Provincial ICE strategy. The project was designed as a proactive effort to disrupt individuals who engage in the online luring of children.
As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was issued.
On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, a 26-year-old Scarborough man was arrested at a Scarborough residence and electronic devices were seized.
He was charged with:
- Luring a Person Under 18 by Telecommunication
- Luring a Person Under 16 by Telecommunication
- Indecent Exposure to a Person Under 16
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court May 20, 2026 at which time he was released on bail. The accused will be back in court June 16, 2026.
The Peterborough Police is a member of the Provincial Strategy to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
