Disturbance/Weapon/Threats Arrest
A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Monday morning.
At approximately 11:20am on November 13, 2023, officers were called about a disturbance in the area of Wolfe Street and Aylmer Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had verbally threatened two people and brandished a bat at them before leaving the area. Officers were able to locate a man matching the description given to police a short distance away.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm X2
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2
The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, November 14, 2023.
Stolen Vehicle Arrest
A 13-year-old Whitby male is facing charges after an incident early Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:25 am on November 12, 2023, officers were made aware of a break and enter and theft of vehicles from a business in the Lansdowne Street and Spillsbury Drive area. Officers on general patrol in the area located a male hiding on the business property, however, when approached the male ran. Officers gave chase on foot and caught up to him a short distance away.
As a result of the investigation, a 13-year-old Whitby male was arrested and charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
- Break, Enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
The youth is currently bound by a release order with several conditions and had been reported missing in another jurisdiction.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court December 11, 2023. Peterborough Police turned the male over to police in the other jurisdiction.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Code, the name of a young person cannot be released.
Impaired Arrest
A 20-year-old Woodville man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Sunday morning.
At approximately 12:25am on November 12, 2023, an officer on general patrol in the Lansdowne Street and Brealey Drive area noticed two vehicles driving the same direction with one of the vehicles being driven in the wrong lane several times. The officer conducted a traffic stop just south of Sir Sandford Fleming Drive and Airport Road with the vehicle that had been driving in the wrong lane. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer noticed signs of impairment.
As a result, a 20-year-old Woodville man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed (Highway Traffic Act)
- Novice driver - B.A.C. above zero (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive wrong way - divided highway (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court December 11, 2023.
