Stunt Driving
A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing stunt driving charges after an incident Friday morning.
At approximately 8:30am, an officer in the area of Brealey Drive and Sherbrooke Street clocked a vehicle going 97km/h in a posted 50km/h zone.
The officer conducted the traffic stop, and the 27-year-old driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with:
- Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act)
- Speeding (Highway Traffic Act)
The driver was issued a 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.
The driver is scheduled to attend court in February 2026.
Suspended Driver Arrest
At approximately 8:00am on December 4, 2025, officers initiated a traffic stop near Parkhill Road and Leahy’s Lane after receiving information the driver was suspended.
Through the investigation, officers learned that the 33-year-old driver was a suspended driver, and had an active prohibition order to not operate a vehicle.
The 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with:
- Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was given a 45-day vehicle impound. He was released with an appearance notice and a part 3 summons. The accused is scheduled to attend court in January 2026.
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVC)
At approximately 1:00 pm on December 4, 2025, officers were notified of an accident in the area of Reid Street and King Street.
Officers attended the area and located a 2-vehicle collision. No injuries were reported.
Through the investigation, a 77-year-old driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with:
- Failing to yield to traffic (Highway Traffic Act)
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVC)
At approximately 1:00 pm on December 4, 2025, officers were notified that 2 cars had collided and one had hit a hydro pole in the area of Clonsilla and the Parkway.
The Hydro One pole was not damaged.
One driver and one passenger were transported to PRHC with minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 78-year-old driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with:
- Failing to yield to traffic (Highway Traffic Act)
Theft arrest
A 37-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges in connection with a theft from a local business.
At approximately 3:00pm on December 4, 2025, officers were called to a business in the area of Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street for a theft in progress. Officers attended the business and located a woman matching the description given to officers leaving the business.
Officers reviewed video of the incident and took the 37-year-old woman into custody. Through the investigation it was learned that the accused was also bound by a probation order.
As a result of the investigation, the 37-year-old Peterborough woman was charged with:
- Theft under $5,000
- Fail to comply with pronation order
The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions to not attend the business and is scheduled to attend court on January 13,2026.
