At approximately 6:00 pm, officers were notified of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Monaghan Road and Parkhill Road West, and that one of the drivers was possibly impaired. Once officers arrived and upon speaking to the driver, they noticed signs of impairment.

As a result, a 37-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs

The accused was issued a 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court February 2026.

Obstruct Peace Officer Arrest

A 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop on Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 12:00pm, an officer with the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle in the area of Water Street and McDonnel Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop after learning the vehicle had an unconfirmed insurance status.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle had given the officer a false name and false date of birth, and was currently a suspended driver. As a result, the 35-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Obstruct Police Officer
  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
  • Driving while under suspension (HTA)
  • Driver while under suspension – while suspended under HTA sec 41/42 (HTA)

The accused was issued an appearance notice and a 45-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused is scheduled to attend court on January 27, 2025.
