Aggravated Assault Arrest
A 52-year-old Peterborough man is being held in custody after an incident Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 2:30pm on December 7, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Stewart Street and Simcoe Street area. Upon arrival, officers found a woman outside and learned a verbal argument had escalated and the victim’s arm had been slashed with a knife. PC Wentworth and K9 Gryphon entered the residence, located the suspect, and conducted a bark and hold arrest. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault - Spousal
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, December 8, 2023.
Robbery Suspect Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a robbery at a Peterborough business.
At approximately 5:30pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, officers were called to a business in the George Street and Hunter Street area. Upon arrival, officer learned that a woman had entered the store and attempted to leave without paying for items. An altercation ensued with the business owner, and the owner was punched several times. The owner was able to retrieve the merchandise before the suspect fled the area.
The suspect was described to police as (photo below for assistance):
- Black female
- Approximately 5'4
- With hair in dreads
- White pants
- Black jacket
- Black boots
- Black handbag
