Prohibited Driver Arrest

A 26-year-old Ajax man is facing a charge after an incident Thursday.

At approximately 11:45am on February 27, 2025, officers on patrol spotted a vehicle believed to be driven by a prohibited driver.  When the vehicle parked in a parking lot near Chemong Road and Lindsay Road, officers were able to take the driver into custody without incident.

As a result, a 26-year-old Ajax man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

The driver is currently bound by a three-year driving prohibition.  The vehicle will be impounded for 45 days. 

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court April 8, 2025.

 

Chief For A Day Contest

The Peterborough Police Service is bringing back the “Chief For A Day” program. 

The contest is the chance for those in Grade 5 to have the opportunity to experience a day as Police Chief for the Peterborough Police Service.  The essay contest winner will be fitted with a full Peterborough Police Service Uniform and experience a day in the life of our Police Chief, including being sworn in, meeting the officers and different units, as well as presenting your essay to the Peterborough Police Service Board. 

Contest Details:                     

  • Who Can Enter: Students in Grade 5 at a school in the City of Peterborough, Village of Lakefield and Township of Cavan-Monaghan for the 2024/2025 school year
  • Essay Topic: If you were Chief for a day, what would you do?
  • Word Limit: 300-500 words
  • Deadline: Tuesday, March 25, 2025
