Robbery Arrests

Two young people are facing charges after an incident Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 5:30pm on June 19, 2025, officers were called to the area of Chamberlain Street and Western Avenue about a street level robbery.  Upon arrival, officers learned that the 14-year-old victim had been approached by two males on bicycles who grabbed the victim’s phone, backpack and sweater before fleeing the area.  A short time later, officers located two teens matching the description given to police in the Park Street and Romaine Street area and took them into custody.  Some of the property was located and returned.

As a result of the investigation:

A 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with Violence

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, June 20, 2025.

A 15-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with Violence
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than attend court

The accused is currently bound by a release order with the following condition to remain in their residence at all times with limited exceptions.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, June 20, 2025.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the names of young people cannot be released.

 

Theft Arrest – Community F.I.R.S.T

A 33-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Wednesday at a Peterborough business.

At approximately 8:00pm on June 18, 2025, a woman was reported entering a Chemong Road business and leaving without paying for items. Through investigation a suspect was identified. 

On Thursday, June 19, 2025 at approximately 4:30pm, two Community F.I.R.S.T officers on general patrol in the George Street and King Street area spotted the woman wanted in connection with the theft and took her into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 - shoplifting
  • Failure to comply with probation

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, June 20, 2025.
