Calls for Service:
(Mar 13 at 8:00am – Mar 14 at 8:00am) 124

St. Patrick’s Day Increased Presence

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up on Monday and the parade on Sunday, the Peterborough Police Service is asking residents choosing to celebrate this weekend — to celebrate responsibly.

Peterborough Police will have an increased presence throughout the City of Peterborough, Village of Lakefield, and Township of Cavan-Monaghan to respond to an anticipated increase in calls for service, such as noise or disturbance calls.

A reminder that the St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held Sunday afternoon (March 16, 2025) starting at 2:00pm.  Expect road closures in the area of the route (George Street and McDonnel Street to George Street and McGill) between 12:30pm and 4:00pm.

Chief Betts will be going out on the road on Sunday afternoon/evening.

RIDE check stops will happen throughout the day and evening.

Please don’t drive impaired. If you are going out, make sure you have a safe ride home at the end of your evening.

You can:

  • Select a designated driver in your group
  • Arrange a ride ahead of time
  • Stay overnight if possible

Don’t leave your safety and the safety of others to the Luck of the Irish — Please plan ahead.

Thank you to Constable Grant Eastwood with our Community Services Unit for delivering the message to not drive impaired.

Crime Stoppers

Crime Stoppers is a civilian, non profit, charitable organization that brings together the community, the police and the media in the fight against crime.

Crime Stoppers provides citizens with a vehicle to anonymously supply the police with information about a crime or potential crime of which they have knowledge. Cash rewards are offered to people who call the program and their information leads to an arrest.
