Impaired Arrest

A 38-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after police were called about a possible impaired driver.

At approximately 8:00pm on March 16, 2023, officers were called to the area of The Parkway and Lansdowne Street and spotted a vehicle matching the description given to police.  Officers followed the vehicle to a parking lot and conducted a vehicle stop.  Upon approaching the vehicle, they noticed obvious signs of impairment with the driver.  During a search of the vehicle officers found cannabis items and open alcohol containers.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive motor vehicle no licence (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently valid permit (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to surrender insurance card (Comprehensive Automobile Insurance Act)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Liquor Licence and Control Act)
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act)

The vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on April 11, 2023.
